(The workout is run jointly by Gemma Weekes and Vanessa Walters)
Every Tuesday on the Clubhouse app, we meet and write for 5 minutes to a random prompt, something that will be totally unexpected for everyone, even the one selecting. We write for 5 minutes in silence. At the end of 5 minutes we reconvene, share (if we want to) and we talk about it. How did that go? What came up? What did you like or draw from someone else’s work.
We encourage you to work with a pen and paper (optional), to not cross anything out (optional) and to not try. No expectations means no writer’s block. It means you’ve left a space to ‘surprise yourself on the page’. Get into the habit of doing this and at some point you’ll create work that interests other people too.
The subconscious mind is more powerful than the conscious mind. Think about it. How often do we say, think or do something we didn’t really mean or intend. Those are the interesting moments.
Get into the HABIT of exploring and trusting your subconscious. It writes itself.
